Core beliefs of Mount Gambier Congregation

As a church we seek to be a people who are committed to

 

Knowing God –  We believe in God in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19, John 1: 17, 18, 2 Corinthians 13: 13.

We believe Jesus Christ is the head of the Church.

Ephesians 1: 19-22, 2: 20-21, Colossians 1: 18.

We believe that all those who call on the name of Jesus will be saved.

Romans 10:13

We believe that through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we come to know God and are forgiven and changed.

Acts 2, Romans 10: 8-11.

We believe that God’s Holy Spirit leads, teaches, empowers and renews us.

John 14: 26, 16: 13-15, Ephesians 4: 3-6

 

The Authority of the Bible –  we believe the Bible is the inspired word of God through which we see the revelation of Jesus.

John 1: 14, Hebrews 4: 12-13, 2 Timothy 3: 16.

We believe in the standards of moral and ethical behaviour as set out in Scriptures and we encourage the formation of strong families.

Ephesians 3: 14 – 21, Hebrews 4: 12-13.

 

Called into Community –  We believe we are called to love God and one another and to help each other to grow more Christ-like.

Matthew 22: 37-40, Hebrews 4: 12-13.

We believe we are called to Community in Christ: Authentic, Courageous, Generous.

2 Corinthians 8: 1-4, 12, Galatians 6:10, Ephesians 6:19.

We believe we are called to be a community of hope and healing, accepting and welcoming all people.

Acts 2: 43-47, James 5: 14,15.

 

Discipleship - we believe we are committed to help each other grow in Christian faith and Spiritual maturity.

Hebrews 5: 13,14,  1 Peter 2: 2.

 

Prayer –  We believe we need to seek God’s guidance in all we do.

Psalm 37: 5, Proverbs 3:6, 16:3, 1 Peter 2:2.

We believe that God hears and responds to our prayers.

John 14: 13-14, Philippians 4: 6-7.

 

Evangelism –  We believe God wants to include everyone in our family and we seek to take His message to our community.

Matthew 28: 18-20, John 3: 16, Romans 10:11, 2 Peters 3:9.
